I spy an old friend at the end of a sunny day

So I went to see an old friend last night in a loud and crowded place... to watch his band perform...
He says: "I like your website, your a pretty good photographer, have a good eye!"
I can't remember if I said 'thank you' or not, I was a bit confused... I must have looked like a dope or a deer in headlights... (Did he mistake me for my sister?? SHE is the photographer. I am an artist, a painter/mixed medium artist - and recently terrorizing you all with attempts at poetry.) But with so many people talking at once, the conversation jumped around, and there wasn't a momentary break for me to jump back in...

Back in the day, no one called me "Jess" (always "J" or "Jessica"... why 20 plus er, a couple, years later they suddenly call me "Jess"? I just don't know. Sounds so foreign, like they are talking to someone else. I just don't connect with it.) But my old friend introduced me to people as Jess, so I knew he was talking about me and my website and not my sister. So...

THANK YOU! What a nice compliment.

Me a good photographer.       ...?...

I am just lucky sometimes. Sunny days and still objects - THEN I am a good photographer... and even then it is the camera (which needs a tune-up).  Very unlucky when it is important.   Moving children inside the school? That, I still can't figure out and missed so many moments I would have loved to freeze in time through a camera lens.  Important dinners for my friend, I screwed that up royally and feel SO bad!!!

So, readers, thank you for joining me while I learn about photography and take lots of crummy pics and post them, and ramble about them...  I will probably never consider myself a photographer or get used to hearing it much like I have never gotten used to hearing myself called Jess.

(BTW - buy my paintings - or prints of my paintings - ok, I'll sell a few of my photos as well - click on the slideshow at the right hand side of the top of this page to go to a magical place where buying my art is easy and affordable!!!)
**it has been a few post since I shamelessly plugged myself, lol**

After saying all that.. yesterday before my evening adventure... it was an "I spy" beautiful day... with the sun shining and a gentle breeze (so things are nice and still)... So this 'not-a-photographer' went on an "I Spy" adventure...

I did my daily exercise routine outside...
 (salvia)

Squats and toe touches turned into weeding...
(lemon thyme)

Lunges and free weights with my arms turned into push mower...
 (sage)

Mint turned into Sun-Tea and Mojitos by the neighbor's pool...
(mint)

Herbs collected themselves into a meal...
(silver thyme)

And I am sure we ate, drank and lazed about, by the pool, for long enough that it counteracted any exercise I had hoped to achieve...
 (chives)

Sun burned, feeling well, enjoying life, enjoying neighbors, old friends, new friends...

the more I drink the happier my posts become! lol

Not quite done yet...

I was working up an example for the painting class for tomorrow... But I am not quite done!
If I cannot finish a painting in 2 hours, then how the heck does the company I am working for think that beginners and others can finish a painting in two hours?!?!

It doesn't help that I am NOT in the mood to paint flowers. I guess you can sorta tell by what I have so far. Not exactly happy sunshiny flowers! Oh well. But, it is not about the finished work, it is about learning something new, having an experience, and enjoying the process!

As I always say (and you can quote me):
"Art work isn't made for museums,
it is made because the artist has learned the magic of the process!"

(which might be why I am not enjoying this and the outcome is less than my normal - I am focused on getting a finished product done to show the class.  I am not focused on the process.)

Eye Spy - with my Camera's Eye

After discussing the cons of having a fine art degree with a pharmaceutical historian, who also has a fine arts degree and speaks french.... I spent some time peeping at a Tom...
A handsome Tom, who posed nicely for me!
Porky was all to willing to pose as well, first hiding behind that weed by his head.
When I asked him to move so I could see his cute lil face, he moved just enough that his eye was no longer behind it.
Porky asked me to run over to the weaver to see if his blanket was finished. The day was cool and drizzly, a blanket would be perfect!
I became distracted by these magical doors...
Oh what could be inside?
Sparkly spinning lights, sweet music, and hand crafted sculptures???
I jumped on a traditional horse... Up and down, round and round...
I was surprised at how fast it actually went around!
A ram pulling a shell shaped carriage...
A rooster that does not crow at dawn...
A majestic swan, whose glimmering eye spied me...
It all made me so thirsty!
But maybe not that brave.
Over to the tavern - that closed before I got there!
There is no night life in this town!!!
 But we had fun anyway...
So much fun I could write a book about it!!!
Does this town have a printer?
